If I had placed a pencil or something in this shot you would better see how very small these are. My favorite way to use up the smallest colorful scraps.
This blue flowers dress will be perfect for her choir performance later this month. Dolly Sarah has one to match of course!

This dress she calls 'roses'. Next to a matching butterflies dress for Sarah. Those are some teeny tiny pleats!

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Check out the twirl! The print is little butterflies. After finishing six summer dresses, I was informed that Dolly Sarah would need new summer dresses too.
Monkeys, aliens, and a train! The train is embroidered! So fun to use that machine. This train will be a gift for a friend, I made a medium so I knew it would fit when I finally finished it.

A dress that is the right size! Yay! Here it is in action too. I'll be done with the rest of these today, what a relief!
Dolly sized diapers. They are waterproof, which is great for those Betsy-Wetsy type dolls. These are from the 'unfinished bin'. Still one more cut out unmade. Oh, how ambitious I am when cutting!

2 very large balls of yarn went into this blanket. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge rectangle instead of the square I was hoping for. The yarn is very pretty, but I am out of time to rip it out and start over. It will be set aside and ripped out later and redone.

I don't make many diaper covers, they don't seem to be worth the effort to me. I modeled this after a Bummis size small and used sandwich pul in dark blue/white.

A couple of mediums. I liked using the blue foldover elastic with the blue snaps on these!
Yay! Another item out of the 'unfinished' bin! Originally cut for Abigail, but she has outgrown it. Luckily, we have another little girl around here- unluckily, she doesn't like skirts as much as dresses.
Another pair of sweet soft girlie sized panties. I have just one more pair of these to finish, but the monkeys are by far my favorites!
After cutting out a set of 6 new dresses for summer, I finished the first, tried it on the kid, and realized I had used the wrong pattern. 2 sizes too big! The others will go into the unfinished bin until summer is over.
Another snack by Chef Abigail. She made tapioca pudding from scratch! Yummy!

A couple of sweet baby gowns. One pink elephants and one monkeys. They are fast and easy to put together, I just was unsure of where to place the snaps. Each time, I like putting the baby in something I've made early on- besides diapers!

Friday, March 20, 2009

I've seen the 'feather and fan' pattern, but I'm glad I finally found it on a scale I could use. A sweet baby hat made from some wonderful natural cotton. I actually crochet the bottom edge and ties. My crochet skills are embarrassing at best, but I am pleased with how this turned out. I have been eyeing yarn for baby hats like crazy. I have 2 more half done even.
Must finish within the next 2 weeks!! I am trying to force myself to complete a couple of things each day from my undone list. So far, so good!

These doll pants were started a LONG time ago. I am still trying to get through the 'unfinished' bin. The 2 on the top are for dolly Sarah and the four on the bottom are for 18" dolls. Alas, I am still challenged with the shirts.

This will go on the changing table. We don't have one of those big foam pads, but this is made with 2 layers of thermal, one layer of fleece, and an old towel inside. It is soft and cushy and washable.
A sweet, soft, snuggly little blankie. We may keep this one, although they are fun easy and great gifts!

I found something green to finish up today. The diaper on the right is dark green with an embroidered bum and the sunshine is embroidered too! These are so cute!! Thanks so much Deb, for letting me use your nifty machine!

Monday, March 16, 2009

2 new panties. As it turns out, they are faster to make than to run through a wash load. Or, next time, I will wait to give them to the child until I have all the pairs made.

A couple of ballet bags for some little girlies. They are each a bit different, to suit the owner. The front polka dot fabric matches the lining and the front is also a pocket with the proper initial. I love making bags and using them, I just do not like to iron on the interfacing- if fabric came pre-interfaced, I'd make bags every week.

Not a healthy snack for today. This is some concoction Abigail made from a kit. There are gummy fish 'swimming' in that jell-o with blue sugar crystals on top. It looks much better than it tastes.
Hard to see, but I didn't have a model available that would stop playing long enough for a shot. This is a hooded towel. I made one very similar long ago but at the time it was way too big. When I dug out every last bit of fabric I could find, I found the towel and hand towel that I never made up. Went together in about 5 minutes and it is no longer too big. Funny how fast they grow.

Another infant soaker sack. This is a yarn dyed by me long ago. It is very obvious where I changed needle brands towards the bottom. I really like those Addi Turbos! I just don't have any of my own. Thank you to a very kind Marilyn for letting me borrow hers for a hat project! I may finish the hat and try to squeeze in one more of these sacks before I return them.

A knitting needle roll and some small notion bags to match. This was a fun project because of the fun fabrics! It was also fun because it was a gift for a new knitter! I just love when people try new crafts!

Monday, March 9, 2009

This year's birthday skirt is horses. She picked out the horse fabric and I had to find a way to make it cute. It reminds her of horseback riding lessons. I ran out of some fabric so the waist fits just perfectly, not too twirly.
*it took me 3 shots with the camera to figure out what that round thing blocking the corner of the picture was-my belly sticks out farther than I thought.

While in Denver, we found the cutest yarn shop! Unfortunately, it was going out of business due to health issues. What a loss for that community! However, I did find a few single skeins of some gorgeous cotton! The picture does not show the luscious softness and subtle color variegation. Since it was only one skein, I knitted this blanket up 2 times in a rectangle shape before trying this third attempt at a square. It is small, but I will use it happily in our warm climate. Now, what to do with the same yarn in pink?

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Another child-sized apron. I still have a few to finish, but no bias tape left. You can see the contrasting print on the back. I like this light fun print too!
All wool squares leftover from other projects. About 25"x35". Then stitched together with wool and felted. The idea was great at the time, but ultimately headed for the garbage. I may try again someday if I can accumulate some 'fun' squares.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Hard to see, but these are only finished when the bunny tag is sewn to the back. Little girls love mommy made stuff- for now. She liked picking out the fabric too!

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Four lovely washcloth and bib sets! These bibs are neat because there are not buttons or snaps to fiddle with! Another wonderful baby gift! Thank you Mary!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Dolly Sarah has a new outfit. It is a bit big on her, the elastic around the legs is not as tight as I'd like, but I think she likes it. By the way, her left arm is tearing off at the rubber join. If anyone has an extra arm, I'd be forever indebted to you! I'd also be willing to trade for nearly anything I can make.

Monday, March 2, 2009

This cutie is a gift from a friend. He is very sturdy and the kids already love him! Although, we've explained it is a baby gift, he is already part of the family. Expert level crochet it seems! Thank you Liz!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

I'm not a 'scrapbooker', so when I bought these thank you notes, I did not know I was going to have to put them together myself. For the minimal effort, they are cute and it was a bit fun! Maybe I can try scrapbooking?
